Lasers are pigment-selective and can be used for the management of various kinds of pigmented lesions, hair removal and skin rejuvenation. They have been successfully shown to reduce the appearance of freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, certain tattoos, age spots, certain birthmarks and even melasma. Periodic laser treatments have also been used to tone and rejuvenate the skin by stimulating collagen production.
Pigments of unwanted lesions will appear lighter after repeated sessions of laser treatment. The skin will appear smoother, tighter and lighter with continued treatments. Hair growth can also be reduced and suspended with laser treatments. About 95% of tattoo clearance can be achieved, with yellow and green pigments being the most difficult to remove.
There is no downtime to the procedure, and one can expect to resume normal daily activities post-treatment with the protection of a regular sunscreen.
